Robb Lucas is the executive chef at Koi SoHo in Trump SoHo New York. Lucas got his start with the Koi Group on the West Coast, when he helped open the restaurant’s flagship location in Los Angeles in 2002. Born and raised in Japan, he moved to the U.S. as a teenager to attend Florida State University on a baseball scholarship. After a career-ending injury, Lucas moved to L.A., where he soon re-discovered his passion for Japanese cuisine. He accepted an apprenticeship at a popular mom-and-pop sushi restaurant in Culver City. Less than two years later, was named head chef at Koi Los Angeles. Since then, he’s helped open all five Koi locations around the world before finally settling in New York City.
