Though there are many distractions at this temporary Tinseltown, your main goal is to attend a (preferably celeb-studded) film screening or two. With 12 categories ranging from Spotlight to Shorts, the festival's program guide is hefty, so arrive with a plan. Two of 2013's hottest tickets, for example, were the premieres of jOBS, the Steve Jobs biopic starring Ashton Kutcher, and Don Jon's Addiction, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's feature-length directorial debut.

Art and music are also staking out a place in the film industry and becoming increasingly present at Sundance. To experience the best of both, check out the New Frontier showcase of multimedia installations and performances or purchase a festival credential for access to stellar live music at Sundance ASCAP Music Café; past lineups have included songwriters from David Gray to LeAnn Rimes. Be on the lookout for other concerts, too. The 2013 Sundance Film Festival featured the inaugural concert of Dave Grohl's Sound City Players at Park City Live on Main Street. The Foo Fighters frontman performed with special guests from his Sundance documentary Sound City, including Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty and Krist Novoselic.

There's no question the slopes rival the arts scene for fun during the festival. Park City Mountain, Canyons and Deer Valley resorts all boast serious mountains accessible from downtown, so follow the A-listers to their favorites and discover why Utah claims to have "the greatest snow on earth."

While Main Street is absolutely the 'hub' of activity, guests looking for a more exclusive scene may want to check out the Acoustic Music Cafe located in the Vista Lounge at Montage Deer Valley.  Nightly 'pop up' concerts will include A-list headliners from the 18th to the 22nd of January including O.A.R., John Popper, KT Tunstall, Matisyahu and Luke Bryan.  There are no tickets to be sold or given out - it is just for festival attendees 'in the know.'  Montage Deer Valley has five restaurants on property, so guests joining the apres scene from 4 - 7 can dine in one of the venues (from sushi to burgers) and stick around for the celebrity-studded music scene.
