Saratoga’s prime location in the Platte Valley near the Medicine Bow National Forest makes it a great place for outdoor activities. While you can partake in hiking, rafting, rock climbing, boating, hunting and more, you’d be remiss not to make a pit stop at the city’s famous mineral hot springs.
Hobo Hot Springs offers free public access 24 hours a day, and Saratoga Hot Springs Resort boasts a 70-foot mineral pool as well as hot pools beneath teepees. Visit the resort’s Healing Waters Spa for further wellness, and indulge in a variety of treatments, including massage, reflexology and more.
The North Platte River is famous for its blue-ribbon trout. Get a license and grab a pole, and perhaps enlist a local guide, and spend a day on the river trying to catch a fresh dinner.
For more land-based pursuits, try playing through the historic Saratoga Public Golf Course, which provides nine holes set in a scenic, wildlife-rich setting with unique features like a cliff-top tee and three “over the river” shots.
To escape the heat of the day, the Saratoga Museum opens its doors to allow you to go back in time with archeology exhibits, local history, railway displays and a bison diorama.
