This icon in the theater district, established in 1921, is one of those old-time favorites that seems to stay the same year after year. For some places, though, no change is a good thing. Sardi’s still serves as a cafeteria of sorts for many theater celebrities (diners can check out all the signed celebrity photos which cover the walls), and still offers hearty Continental signatures like stuffed cannelloni (veal, beef, or sausage), serviceable antipasti (this is not the restaurant’s strong suit), and solid simple dishes like rotisserie-roasted chicken and grilled filet mignon. Yes, the brilliant baked Alaska is still on the menu, and it’s still a monster—a tasty one at that.
