Don’t let the crush of kid-centric crowds ogling knickknacks for sale dampen your desire to indulge in a signature frozen hot chocolate or three-scoop “drugstore” sundae at this Upper East Side sweet shop. There are few places in New York as playful as Serendipity, where both kids and kids-at-heart can unabashedly worship at the altar of sweets. Serendipity feels like an Alice in Wonderland tea party come to life, complete with multicolored Tiffany lamps (some of them real), a tiny space and larger-than-you-can-imagine sticky treats. “Real” food is available, too, from burgers and hot dogs to meatloaf and pasta. Before a sugar coma descends, scan the dining room for some nevitable celebrity spotting (is that Tom, Katie and Suri?).
Serendipity 3 Information:
• American, dessert menu. Lunch, dinner.
