JW Marriott Shanghai at Tomorrow Square is located directly across from People’s Park, the geographical center of Shanghai and the perfect spot for a jog. The leafy oasis in the city’s densest neighborhood provides plenty of shade and paths that are generally quiet and open. The routes here are quick and easy, but if you are looking for something more challenging, the concierge desk also has jogging maps for longer runs. Note that jogging is not popular in Shanghai and China in general, and runners are few and far between. If you pass elderly locals doing tai chi, you may attract some looks of surprise. It’s also important to know that Shanghai’s pollution is fairly heavy, and even if you’re an avid runner at home you’ll find yourself more out of breath in Shanghai.
