You won’t go hungry at JW Marriott Shanghai at Tomorrow Square, where three restaurants, a deli and afternoon tea in the Lobby Lounge beckon you with tantalizing menus of Western and Asian dishes. All four of the restaurants, located on floors 38, 39 and 40, offer sweeping views of downtown Shanghai, including leafy People’s Park and the city’s busy elevated Yan’an Highway. JW’s California Grill will appeal most to carnivores, offering Wagyu beef, Angus long-fed gold beef aged 250 days and Tasmanian grass-fed beef. Non-meat eaters will find some tasty options as well, including seared ocean trout with port wine glazed shallots, creamy barley and wild rice. (Vegans, beware — you won’t find much to eat here.) At Marriott Café, which is the best restaurant for families staying at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel, tuck into beef carpaccio with rocket, shaved Parmesan and white truffle oil, or dine on the spicy Thai green chicken curry. Be sure to try the steamed scallop and shrimp dumplings at Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant, along with salted black carp with edamame, and a superb crispy roasted goose.
