Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai does offer babysitting services, but you’ll need to give the hotel some advance notice, preferably when you check in. The Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel can arrange for an English- or Chinese-speaking babysitter; all the English-speaking sitters know Chinese as well, so you don’t need to be concerned about a language barrier. A babysitter will cost you RMB100 (US$16) per hour, with an RMB60 (US$10) transportation surcharge after 11 p.m. The Shanghai hotel doesn’t have a kids playroom, but children are welcome to use the pool (which is watched over by a lifeguard) with supervision. Pudong Shangri-La also has tennis courts, which older children are welcome to use.
