The beds at Pudong Shangri-La are a good respite for jetlagged travelers who’ve just stumbled in from the airport. Each bed in the River View rooms has a fabric headboard embroidered with a Chinese-style nature scene, like cherry blossoms in bloom. Grand Tower rooms have a light wood headboard with tan leather panels. In both types of rooms, the sheets are crisp and white, with two colorful bolsters and four big, soft, white pillows. On either side of the bed are dark wood nightstands topped with cream-colored Chinese lamps — a good example of how the rooms at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel have an East-meets-West style. Those staying in the luxury hotel’s suites can choose their pillows off of a menu; call down to housekeeping to place your bedtime order.
