The design style of Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai is ornate and luxurious. The Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel is made up of two interconnected buildings — the Grand Tower and River View — and both have marble floors, plush carpets and gilded chandeliers. We love all the little touches throughout the hotel that give a heavy nod to its East-meets-West style. On each floor, near the elevators, there’s a delicate porcelain tray with apples for you to munch on. In the subdued River Wing rooms, a beautiful fabric headboard depicts a Chinese nature scene (e.g., blooming cherry blossoms), while cream-colored Chinese lamps sit on dark-wood nightstands. Drenched in cream, orange, red and pale gold décor, the bright Grand Tower rooms feel warm and inviting with wood-paneled walls.
