The bar at Yamazato is focused mainly on basic liquor and not specialty cocktails. This could be because the majority of the clientele attracted to this venue is comprised of Japanese and Chinese businesspeople who are more interested in buying bottles of sake and shochu for sharing around the table than cocktails. Yamazato’s short list of cocktails generally uses shochu as a base with a fresh fruit mixer. Particularly tasty is the shochu cocktail mixed with fresh grapefruit juice, soda water and a little bit of sugar. Light and refreshing, it’s reminiscent of a fruity gin and tonic and goes down dangerously easy.
