What are the table settings like at Yamazato Shanghai?

Like many traditional Japanese restaurants, the table settings of Yamazato are incredibly spare when you first sit down, decorated only with a large, round, black tray and a pair of light chopsticks made of balsa wood. As the food begins to come, you’ll be treated to an array of more elaborate bowls, boxes and plates, as each dish — from the amuse bouche to the dessert — comes in a pretty porcelain or earthenware dish. The bento boxes are also beautiful — dark wood painted with gold detailing that is a delight to study as you eat.
