The prices at Yamazato vary greatly depending of what you order, but the value for the money is extremely good. You could spend as little as RMB100 (US$15) for a light meal of sushi or as much as RMB1,000 (US$158) for a seven-course kaiseki set menu featuring Wagyu beef. On average, the price per person will be between RMB350 (US$55) and RMB450 (US$70) per person for one of the Shanghai restaurant’s more modest kaiseki set meals or bento boxes. Plan on adding at least another RMB100 (US$15) onto the bill for alcoholic drinks, as Yamazato offers more than 200 different bottles of sake, shochu and Japanese whiskies that you’re sure to want to try.
