This hotel, opened in 1901, was the first on Waikiki beach. Although it eventually
merged with the neighboring Surfrider, guests checking in still access the lobby via
the original colonial porte cochere. The hotel was renovated and rebranded in 2007
from Sheraton to Westin, and rooms got upgraded with Heavenly beds and flat-screen
TVs. The hotel fronts the beach and there’s also a pool for those who prefer freshwater
swimming. Enjoy meals at the Beachside Café, or have afternoon tea and listen to
Hawaiian music on the Banyan Veranda (named for the massive 100-year-old banyan
tree it overlooks). The hotel also boasts Waikiki’s first and only beachfront spa.
