It’s not clear whether this is the first Bass Pro Shop connected to a casino-hotel or the first casino-hotel connected to a Bass Pro Shop (a 165,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shop at that), but either way, it’s a first and allows those who feel more comfortable with a rod, bow or gun in hand to also feel at home in Las Vegas. The lobby of the lodge-themed Silverton wouldn’t be complete without a deer head hanging from the walls, but it also gives a nod to its Sin City locale with a huge 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium filled with more than 5,000 tropical fish—and, occasionally, live mermaids—to greet you. A $150 million renovation has upped the ante for this budget oasis, but the rooms are still relatively basic and small. You’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep, though, since all the rooms boast the same beds used at the Bellagio.
