St. Barts has some outstanding food, which should come as no surprise given its strong French influence. While just about every corner of the island has noteworthy cuisine, there are a few unique spots worth seeking out. Here are Forbes Travel Guide’s five best food experiences in St. Barts:

1. Le Ti St. Barth. The food at this restaurant is just fine, and ranges from steak to seafood, but it’s the nightly cabaret show that makes it an island institution. The modern burlesque show has made Le Ti one of the hottest spots on the island (reservations are essential). While watching performers, dig into yellowtail sashimi topped with caviar, or ribeye steak spiced with green pepper. Things don’t really start hopping until after 10:30 p.m., when you can see beautiful women on vacation dance on tables.

2. L’Esprit Saline. Locals and visiting foodies rave about chef Jean-Claude Dufour’s fresh and current cuisine. It’s a great choice for lunch on the way to Saline Beach, or for a romantic dinner on an alfresco terrace. The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians, and the desserts are something special.

3. Sand Bar. Splurging on breakfast or lunch is worth it at this luxe beachside café, where you can overlook the gentle waves of Baie de St. Jean. Whole-wheat pizzas are wood-grilled, the burger rolls are monogrammed in poppy seeds, and tasty salads are ideal for those who want to stay in bikini-ready shape.

4. Eddy’s. Most tourists don’t know about this spot, but locals love Eddy’s. Tucked into a pretty garden in Gustavia, this restaurant will give you a taste of St. Barts without much fuss. The menu focuses on fresh, Creole-style seafood; regulars rave about the green papaya salad and rum punch.

5. La Langouste. Excellent Caribbean spiny lobsters are served on a terrace above a glorious sweep of Flamands Beach. There is a hint of Creole in the preparation of many of the dishes and all the seafood is freshly caught.
