This resort, located at the base of Camelback Mountain, is hyper-luxurious. The rooms and suites feature imported Irish linens and oversized bathrooms with Italian marble. But there is no attitude here. Someone is always around to help or steer you toward one of a number of recreational opportunities, including desert hikes. A resort within a resort, the Canyon Suites at the Phoenician offers sprawling, luxuriously decorated rooms and a separate pool with private cabanas. Guests are assigned ambassadors, who arrange everything from in-room aromatherapy baths to chauffeured trips into town in the resort’s Mercedes. There’s little reason to leave the elegant, comfortable suites (which have DVD players, flat-screen TVs and Italian linen-swathed beds), but the resort’s golf courses and full-service spa serve as the primary temptations.
