To find Tapawingo (the Indian name for the land on which the restaurant sits), you’ll
travel about seven miles on a winding country road to this restaurant surrounded by
gardens. The dining room is equally charming, with a stone fireplace, many windows,
a stunning wine room (the wine list is a find as well), and an elegant private room
with its own veranda. But the best part of Tapawingo is the food. Flavors are seasonal,
earthy and spectacular in dishes such as seared dayboat diver scallops with chorizo
ragu and white bean puree, Aspen Hill Farm rabbit with baby leeks, English peas
and pearl onions, and spiced filet mignon with Yukon Gold potato puree, Chanterelle
mushrooms, baby bok choy, sweet corn and a Gorgonzola fondue.
