What are Andre Fu’s favorite hotels?
I have a lot of favorite hotels. In London, I like [Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star] The Connaught. It’s very masculine, and I like the way you enter via a wonderful water feature by Tadao Ando. I also like [Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star] The Berkeley for the fact that it’s very personal and intimate in spirit, as well as the context of the hotel being in Knightsbridge yet fronting London’s Hyde Park. It’s very quintessentially English. In Shanghai, it would be [Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star] The PuLi Hotel and Spa for the way it embraces modern China; and in New York, I like The Mark because it’s the chic New Yorker vision in my undertaking.
As for resorts, I like Alila Villas Soori in Bali for its sense of escape because it’s very far — it’s quite remote — from the rest of the hustle and bustle.
