What are Chris Johnson’s favorite sake breweries?
I have some favorite ones, but the great thing is that just like wineries, they all have different styles and uniqueness. There are various sake breweries that are better for different reasons. A couple of the families that I really enjoy are Yoshinogawa, Masumi, Kitaya and Kamoizumi. They’re all breweries from slightly different regions of Japan. Kitaya is from Fukuoka, which is all the way down south. Yoshinogawa is from Niigata, which is a very famous region for premium sake, and is a brewery that has been around since 1548, so there’s lots of history there. Kamoizumi is a Hiroshima sake brewery that has a really amazing style and depth of flavor that’s different from some of the other ones.
