Having an ex-hotel inspector for a wife and having co-founded Hotel du Vin, I can be quite particular about hotels. Service is always paramount for me — it seems simple to get it right, yet it is so easy to get it wrong. I love Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons because it is so professional. Internationally, I was extremely impressed by the Park Hyatt Shanghai; it was just amazing. A family favorite is the Shangri-La in Singapore also; the staff is charming and nothing is too much trouble.
