1. The Times Square ball drop on December 31 is free.
2. Visit Ground Zero.
3. The Macy’s Parade at Thanksgiving is free.
4. See the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting, which is normally the last week of November. That’s a big free event where they have a bunch of concerts by celebrities.
5. There’s no cost to get on the Staten Island Ferry — you can get on it and have a view of the Statue of Liberty without paying a fee.
On July 8, 2012Larry Echaverry answered the question:The best things to see and do in New York include a visit to the Empire State Building. Go to the Statue of Liberty, which is Battery Park. If it’s December, I would recommend ice skating at Rockefeller Center. On a Sunday, I would say walking over the Brooklyn Bridge or the Manhattan Bridge. You can go jogging in Central Park. You definitely have to walk around and view Times Square.
