What are Sara Moulton’s favorite hotels?
I think it’s like a restaurant: where you’re a regular is often times your favorite place. It doesn’t mean it’s the best hotel, but they know you and you feel comfortable. There’s one that comes to mind because I’ve stayed there so much and they really do treat me well and always upgrade me, and it’s not even because I’m a chef or anything. It’s called Hotel Vitale in San Francisco. It also has to do with its placement. It’s right near the Ferry Building and the Embarcadero. I love being near the bridges. You can’t really see the Golden Gate from there; you have to walk down to the Embarcadero, but you can see the Bay Bridge. Usually, I end up getting upgraded so I can see it from my hotel room, and it’s just dreamy.
