As cruise lines grow bigger and better, so too do their activity checklists.
As cruise lines grow bigger and better, so too do their activity checklists. Ships have hatched everything from on deck putting greens and rock-climbing walls to Vegas-style casinos and shopping arcades (how else could you spend your blackjack winnings onboard?). Celebrity chefs are in attendance to pass on a culinary secret or two during weekly cooking classes, and spas have earned themselves a facelift, offering more extensive treatments including everything from hydrotherapy (as if there wasn't enough water around) to aloe-packed mud baths. For the kids, many cruise lines have underage-only dance parties, kids-centric educational excursions and endless amounts of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese at the ready. Cruise Port Activities
Sure, picking the right cruise ship is important. Do you want a wave pool? Can you live without a sauna onboard? What about a midnight buffet? All valid concerns. But another crucial factor in successful cruising is the roster of port activities. Most cruise lines offer multiple port activities for each destination, so whether you're ready... |

What's a vacation without a friendly wager or two? That's precisely the philosophy that cruise lines are banking on as they make glitzy casinos a mainstay on nearly every vessel. Going on a cruise doesn't mean you have to put an end to eating modestly and, by the same token, working out. In fact, most cruises have full-size gyms that offer the requisite exercise machines plus classes such as boxing lessons and weight-training instruction. If you want more engaging ways to get fit, then you'll also have no shortage of energetic and, most important, fun sports to try on board... |

Cruise Ship Spas
When you're sailing the open seas, surrounded by nothing more than serene ocean waters, it's tough to get into a more relaxed state of mind. But if peace is what you seek, then head to the ship's spa. Most have classics like Swedish or stone massages on the menu, but many also feature interesting treatments that speak to the port of calls on the ship's route or even the ocean itself. Norwegian Cruise Line, for instance, features an acupressure massage in the Balinese tradition... |

Cruise Ship Activities for Kids
What could be better than spending an entire week onboard a ship with your entire family? If your answer is, "Lots of things," then you're like any other parent out there—you love your kids, but sometimes you just need some time for yourself. Many cruise lines understand the feeling exactly and offer a heap of kid-friendly activities to keep your little ones happy and entertained (and free you up to truly enjoy yourself)... |

Cruise Ship Classes
If you thought that cruising was just about lounging, sightseeing and eating, think again. Cruise lines have activities and tours tailored to their routes and destinations, and some of the most unforgettable moments on your cruise will come from learning something new with your significant other, your best friends, or total strangers... |
