It's true what they say about there being no such thing as a free lunch. Even in Sin City—known for lavishing high rollers with perks—the custom of providing free food and drink to keep players gambling is falling out of fashion. That doesn't mean, however, that the entire blackjack table has to hear your rumbling stomach.

Many of the smaller, off-the-Strip casinos still buy boxes of baker's dozens for their patrons (usually accompanied by a warm coffee or cocoa). Swank establishments, however, aren't as generous with the pastries as they are with the cocktails. While they're likely to ensure you always have a Bloody Mary or martini in your hand, they are often loathe to provide comp buffet vouchers unless you're spending a sizeable sum—sometimes up to $100 or $200 per hand for several hours. So once you're nice and liquored up, it'll be time to hunt for some real food.

You've got several options, from buffets and snack bars to restaurants and food courts. Some of the best buffets in town can be found at the Wynn Las Vegas, the Bellagio and World Carnival at Rio. If you're looking for something light, grab a fresh sandwich at the aptly named Snacks or a pastry and gelato at Café Gelato in the Bellagio, or savor fresh tropical fruit at Tropicana's Garden Café. Those craving a casual, sit-down meal (and an excuse to give your wallet a break from the tables), should try Monte Carlo's Italian eatery Market City Caffe (make sure to start off with the antipasto bar) or the Luxor's Burger Bar where you build your own mouthwatering creation of Black Angus with toppings like lobster and salmon. In Las Vegas you can find almost any dish at any hour in Las Vegas—you just might not be able to find somebody else to pay for it.
