Nightclubs
It's no surprise that Sin City is home to some of the most luxurious, offbeat, energetic, indulgent nightclubs in the nation. Whatever itch you want to scratch, you'll find it in a nightclub in Las Vegas.
Dive headfirst into a high-end carnival at Tao at the Venetian (3355 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, 702-414-1000; www.venetian.com), a spot for celebs and seasoned night owls. A lady lounging in a bathtub filled with rose petals is the first sight you'll see, along with lingerie-clad models painting henna on each other's bodies. That is followed by an expansive, multi-barred interior decorated with Asian accents, and an elevated DJ stage pouring forth hip-hop and house music.
For a super-luxe night, head to Tryst at Wynn Las Vegas (3131 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, 702-770-3384; www.wynnlasvegas.com), which is outfitted in deep reds and mellow browns and dotted with private tables, semi-secluded booths, and two outdoor patios. The centerpiece of the 1,200-foot nightclub is the spacious dance floor, which opens up onto a 90-foot waterfall cascading into a secluded lagoon.
For something more low-key and exotic, skip straight to Red Square in Mandalay Bay (3950 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, 702-632-7407; www.mandalaybay.com). The quirky interior, with its plush red velvet seats and headless Lenin statue, is the perfect Imperial Russian backdrop for a late night of sipping cocktails and nibbling on caviar. The nightclub's vodka vault (a walk-in freezer that's open to guests) holds more than 200 frozen vodkas and infusions, for powerful martinis (espresso, raspberry, chocolate), vodka flights and Russian-inspired cocktails.
Other hot spots include JET (3400 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, 702-693-8300; www.mirage.com), a high-energy mega-club with a major dance scene; Hard Rock Hotel's The Joint (4455 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas, 702-693-5000; www.hardrockhotel.com), for laid back rock, though often one of the toughest tickets in town; Sand Dollar Blues Lounge (3355 Spring Mountain Rd., Las Vegas, 702-871-6651; http://sanddollarblues.com) for good drinks and great live blues acts; and Eye Candy (3950 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, 702-632-7777; www.mandalaybay.com), a tech-fueled dance space in a futuristic-fabulous setting. Those seeking a bit of bunny-tailed nostalgia should hop to the Playboy Club at the Palms Hotel (4321 W. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, 702-942-7777; www.palms.com), which mixes classy cocktails and classic costumes with a dash of dancing and poker.
