What is the gym like at Blantyre?

The gym at Blantyre is small but accommodating. Keep in mind, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel only has 21 guest rooms, so it’s rare for you to wait on equipment or be crammed into a small space with other fitness-seeking folks. The gym is in the Potting Shed, which is also home to the spa. It’s on the first floor adjacent to the bathrooms and glassed-in veranda (head over to the veranda after your workout to sink into in the luxurious hot tub).

The gym has several treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical machines, free weights, exercise balls and a cable cross-over machine. There’s also a TV to distract you while you sweat. However, with all the activities the Massachusetts hotel has to offer, you might not want to be cooped up in the gym. Our advice: If you’re staying at Blantyre during the warmer months, opt for a hike or run through the beautiful trails. In the winter, go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through the Berkshire Mountains. With such a gorgeous setting, it would be a shame to limit your workout to the indoor gym.

Blantyre’s gym is intimate. It features two Woodway treadmills (which simulate running through the forest on pine needles), a recumbent bike and an elliptical trainer. Blantyre has a Freemotion Fitness Cable Cross machine, as well as free weights. The gym is open from 6:30 a.m. until whenever.
