We have a number of dining spaces that provide a glimpse into the life of one of the great mansions of Scotland and England. All our dining rooms have large fireplaces and our conservatory dining space has windows on three sides. Our wine cellar dining area would be the ideal location for a group dinner at the great table surrounded by some of the world’s best wine vintages.
Blantyre was purchased in the 1890s and served as a home for the Paterson family for generations, which is why you’ll only find one kitchen on the property. While it technically is a restaurant, it still has the feel of a kitchen turning out delicious meals in a formal dining setting. In fact, it doesn’t even have a name, only referred to as “the dining room.” The kitchen staff handles breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service and catered events. You can dine in the Main House’s breakfront room, the formal dining room or in the guest rooms. The kitchen is a sight in itself, featuring antique cabinets with fine china that dates back centuries and crystal that transcends time. The breakfront room is a floral-filled sitting area with tables, sofas and chairs, perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or lunch while overlooking the croquet fields. Blantyre’s main dining room is one of the more formal spots at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel; reservations are required for dinner, and gentlemen must wear a jacket and tie. At the nightly dinner, you’re seated at a white-tablecloth-clad table with candlelight and crystal. Two private dining rooms sit just outside the main one and are perfect for large parties or group dinners. All the dining rooms are complete with windows that overlook the lawns at the luxury hotel. You’ll feel like you’re dining at someone’s stately home, and in a sense, you are.
