The Dining Room at Wheatleigh serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in an intimate setting overlooking the hotel’s grandiose landscaped lawns. The restaurant seats about 40 to 45 guests at one time in either the main room or the hotel’s elegant back deck, which is glassed-in to provide comfort year-round. The same menu is available in both spaces, but the ambiance is slightly different. On the deck, you’ll feel as if you’re dining in a private garden, while the dining room feels a bit more formal. Both exude elegance and intimacy. Wheatleigh chef Jeffrey Thompson oversees the menu, much of which features locally sourced fruit, vegetables and cheeses. The multicourse menus change seasonally, but whenever you dine here, you’re sure to appreciate the subtle indulgence. Expect dishes like local scallops and lobster with celery root, black trumpets and Swiss chard, as well as Cervena venison with spaetzle, cabbage and chestnut. There isn’t a formal dress code in The Dining Room — you are asked to dress in business-casual wear and to simply enjoy the environment.
If you’re looking for something a little less formal, try The Library for weekend brunch or dinner. The Library serves a simpler fare from The Dining Room — plus, it’s available à la carte — but still sources its food locally. You’ll find everything from housemade pasta with mushrooms, artichokes and spinach to beef rib-eye and short rib with potato puree, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts.
