Given its Loop location and subterranean, Old World feel, it’s
surprising to learn that Trattoria No. 10 chef Douglas D’Avico
is fairly progressive with his menu: He features organic and
locally grown ingredients in items like handcrafted ravioli
filled with asparagus tips and aged provolone topped with
sun-dried tomato sauce, and butternut and acorn squash
in a sweet walnut-butter sauce. Although it’s big with the
lunch crowd, Trattoria No. 10’s low ceilings, alfresco-style
murals and textured walls help the restaurant overcome its
substreet-level locale and create romantic, cozy environs for
dinner in a decidedly non-cozy neighborhood.
