Troquet owners Chris and Diane Campbell take their wine and
food-pairing skills seriously. So it’s no surprise that this bistro
wine bar boasts one of the most comprehensive lists in the
city—just be prepared to pay to play, as many of the bottles
carry a three-digit price tag. The atmosphere is sophisticated
yet understated, with impressive views of Boston Common
and the State House. In contrast with the exhaustive wine list,
chef Scott Hebert’s food menu appears pleasantly limited,
offering light dishes like East Coast halibut with lobster
succotash and more substantial entrées such as pan-roasted
rib steak with root vegetables and potato purée. If there’s any
confusion as to which wine should accompany your dish of
choice, suggestions are provided next to each menu item
(and a knowledgeable waitstaff serves as a great back-up).
A newly installed desserterie on the lower level is a relaxing
spot to sample a smattering of creative sweet plates like the
delicately crunchy milk chocolate mille feuille drizzled with
a rum-and-honey reduction sauce. And, of course, there’s a
nice selection of dessert wines to match.
