Angelina Jolie likes to stay at this Art Deco-era gem when she's in town. Opened in 1931, the landmark hotel sits on Central Park and recently underwent a two-year, $90 million refurbishment. Rooms come with custom-designed furniture and other special touches including amber-colored glass sinks, red leather-framed mirrors and wall-to-wall cabinetry for extra storage space. Not everything is a throwback to the mid-20th century, however. Modern touches include touchscreen controls for lighting and music, flat-panel TVs and lighted footpaths to the bathrooms. If you're in need of a little restoration of your own, the in-house spa features a steam bath, sauna and a host of treatments like massages and facials.
