Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa

A family-friendly Emerald Coast escape
The American dream starts right here in the heart of the unassuming small towns that dot the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast. One visit to Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa and it’s easy to see why the Emerald Coast reigns supreme as a family-friendly beach destination. Located near the sugar-white sands and emerald-green waters of Destin, about halfway between Panama City and Pensacola, Hilton Sandestin Beach is the largest full-service brand name beachfront hotel in Northwest Florida.

But aside from its stunning location, the property is a casual, yet chic beach resort. The hotel has 624 bright and airy accommodations, many with waterfront views, a world-class spa, Serenity by the sea, on-site dining (including the award-winning restaurant Seagar’s) and plenty of resort recreation options such as championship golf for swingers, a nearby designer outlet center for shoppers and a shiny on-site fitness center for just about everyone in between.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa is situated on the Emerald Coast, on Destin Beach, the crown jewel of the Gulf.
  • Destin is annually voted one of the top beaches in America: Its pristine Gulf shores, charming fishing village vibe and sub-tropical climate, make it a perfect backdrop for festivals, attractions and recreational activities all year long.
  • Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa is a contemporary mid-rise hotel (eight floors) with nuances of a nautical motif found in the navy blue hues and gold jewel tones throughout the lobby and common areas.
  • The Hilton’s expansive 17,000-square-foot pool deck that overlooks the Gulf is really the resort’s hot spot. Warm up at one of the fire pits, cozy up on one of the outdoor sofas or belly up to the beach bar and toast the setting sun.
Things to Know
  • Though this stretch of the Panhandle has been called a best-kept secret, the word is getting out and it is becoming a hot travel destination.
  • Easy access, agreeable weather and plenty to do, allow this spot on the Gulf Coast to rival any island or Caribbean vacation without need for a passport.
  • The must try libations are the signature cocktails or fun frozen concoctions from The Sand Bar, which also has a great selection of sandwiches, wraps and appetizer-style bites such as peel-and-eat Gulf shrimp.
  • In 2011, the hotel enjoyed a $6.5 million renovation which included a refresh of the guest rooms facing the beach, remodeling of the restaurants and an entire redesign of the resort’s 17,000 square-foot deck, which now takes full advantage of spectacular sweeping Gulf views.
The Rooms
  • Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa features 602 rooms offered in four different room types: regular guest rooms, deluxe junior suites, parlor suites and presidential suites.
  • The guest rooms and suites located in the beach tower feature soothing, sea-glass color themes in frothy greens, sun-kissed yellows and calming blues inspired by the beautiful nature on the Emerald Coast.
  • All guest rooms have a private balcony, perfect for drinking in the balmy Gulf breezes.
  • Other conveniences include microwave, refrigerator, sitting area with sleeper sofa, premium cable TV, and in-room movies and video games. Wi-Fi and wired Internet service are also available.
  • The junior suites are terrific for families with kids, who will love the extra space (574 square feet), bunk beds and state-of-the-art media center. Parlor suites are even more spacious with 758 square feet and offer just that — a parlor living area perfect for entertaining or even an in-suite business meeting.
  • Two newly-transformed presidential suites have sweeping Gulf views from private balconies and are beautifully appointed with comforts such as two full bathrooms with steam showers and jetted tubs to make you feel like a VIP while you’re on your vacation.
The Restaurants
  • Though it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, the hearty breakfast buffet at Sandcastles is perfect for fueling up for an action-packed day at the beach.
  • If you want to get an early start, you can also grab a Starbucks Coffee, Tazo tea and homemade Danish courtesy of mater pastry chef Yascha Becker at The Coffee Shop, which opens at 6:30 a.m.
  • Zesty fish tacos, crisp green salads and fresh grouper sandwiches served al fresco for lunch or dinner are that much more delicious when paired with a panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico at Barefoots Beachside Bar & Grill.
  • Inside the hotel, you can savor fresh, locally caught sushi and a drink at the Hidashi Sushi Bar that overlooks the pool deck and Gulf.
  • But wherever you choose to nosh during the day, be sure to save your appetite and some time on your schedule for dinner at Seagar’s steakhouse. For a real treat at this upscale eatery, order steak Diane, Dover sole or cherries jubilee and enjoy it prepared with expert flair at your tableside.
