Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva
Geneva's contemporary lakeside spot
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We created the original Five-Star rating system in 1958, when we were Mobil Travel Guide.
Five-Star
These are outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.
Soon To Be Rated
As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
Kempinski is practically a destination unto itself. It has a coveted location directly in front of Geneva’s iconic Jet d’Eau and the classic Mont-Blanc, and offers underground access to the lake.
As you enter Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva, you are keenly aware of the angled glass façade that makes you conscious not only of your own reflection but that of Lake Geneva behind you.
And this is a metaphor for what this Geneva lakeside hotel offers; what feels imposing at first gives way to a sense of familiarity and comfort. The reception desk glows a deep amber hue reflecting the nearby seven-flamed fireplace.
The tones of the lake are seamlessly woven into the visuals of the property, with blues and greens dominating. A square interior courtyard adds a peaceful element.

Our Inspector's Highlights
-
Inside the Geneva hotel, you’ll find three restaurants, a nightclub, a bevy of shops and stores, 13 formal meetings rooms, and a pharmacy.
-
The 15,000-square-foot Le Spa by Resense holds 12 treatment rooms, and a hammam. Go there to indulge in treatments that draw components from Ayurveda, Balinese and Thai methods.
-
The spa also offers the largest private indoor pool in Geneva. Order a fresh juice and relax poolside in a hammock.
-
There’s also a fully-equipped fitness center, with personalized programs for your fitness goals.
Things to Know
-
The Kempinski Kids Club has games and activities for the younger set, with separate rooms for the 3- to 5-year-olds and 5- to 8-year-olds.
-
Guests can expect airport transfers to and fro, whether in a limousine, Ferrari, or the hotel’s luxury minivan.
-
Kempinski hotels have a “Lady in Red” to compliment the concierge. As the hotel ambassador, don’t be shocked to be greeted by name and with personalized recommendations.
The Rooms
-
The 398 rooms and suites are slightly different from each other in terms of the contemporary décor.
-
The accommodations cater to more of a business clientele rather than leisure. However, they are ample and smartly appointed, providing a business-casual feel without any frilly, over-the-top accouterments.
-
Obviously, the lake-facing rooms are the prize, but even the interior-fronting courtyard rooms are quite pleasant, as they are spacious and awash in muted gray and blue tones.
-
All have marble bathrooms with bathtubs, and some come with stand-alone showers.
-
For longer stays, there are also 14 apartments, the most compelling of which is the Geneva suite. It boasts 11,625 square feet of Brazilian hardwood floors, a private lift with direct access to the parking lot, its own fitness room, Hermès bath products and bullet-proof windows.
The Restaurants
-
Try Il Vero for wholesome Italian food; Tse Yang to get authentic Chinese or Le Grill for steak along with large glass windows that bring the lake inside.
-
For the Geneva hotel’s signature dish, head upstairs to FloorTwo Lounge for a taste that is typical of the region — perch caught from the local waters with shallots, parsley, lemon, and butter.
-
To linger over a cocktail, visit the Floor Two Lounge Bar, a trendy spot with curtains partitioning semi-private booths. There is a second bar inside of the hotel’s energetic Java Club nightclub, where a young crowd takes over the dance floor until the wee hours.
-
In the morning, partake in the breakfast buffet and grab a seat on the terrace to have views of the sun sparkling on the lake with your coffee.
