White Elephant Village

Residential-style luxury in Nantucket
VERIFIED LUXURY
Near Nantucket's famed White Elephant resort sits the White Elephant Village, a Nantucket Island Resorts property. It consists of two areas of accommodations — a 20-room inn and 25 one-, two- and three-bedroom residences — nestled on a quiet block minutes from Nantucket Town.

White Elephant Village is the most sophisticated of family-friendly destinations, with thoroughly modern, beach-inspired guest rooms designed by Kathleen Hay and Alexandra Champalimaud.

The alluring amenities here were created with both discerning adults and curious children in mind. You’ll appreciate the “early riser” spread in the inn’s airy lobby each morning; the coffee, espresso, tea and pastries are best enjoyed on the inn’s front porch.

In the residences, whip up your own breakfast — your kitchen is stocked with (among other perks) a Sub-Zero refrigerator, toaster, panini press and coffeemaker. Don’t miss taking the kids to White Elephant Village’s private pool; arrive early to grab a cabana and wait for the complimentary snacks that circulate regularly.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• The friendly staff of White Elephant Village begins taking care of you before you step foot on the island. After you make a reservation at the hotel, the pre-arrival concierge will contact you to tend to your entire vacation itinerary.

• White Elephant Village’s heated, kid-friendly, outdoor pool — exclusive to hotel guests — is a wonderful alternative to hitting the beach (though the Nantucket hotel provides portable beach chairs, too).

• A chauffeur and a BMW sedan are on call to whisk you into town whenever you’d like, and White Elephant Village vans will shuttle you to the nearby ferry docks or beaches.

• The hotel offers a fleet of bicycles for rent, and between Nantucket’s extensive network of bike paths and the property’s proximity to the town of Nantucket, you’ll be able to pedal anywhere you’d like to go.

• Every morning, complimentary coffee, espresso, tea and pastries (muffins, Danishes and scones) are served in the gorgeous lobby; in late afternoon, gratis cheese and port are available for sipping here or on the expansive front porch.
Things to Know
• White Elephant Village does not have an onsite restaurant, but don’t worry; you’re just blocks from sister hotel White Elephant and that property’s excellent Brant Point Grill.

• If you’d like your own house car, book a three-bedroom residence — these accommodations come with your very own BMW X5 sports activity vehicle for the duration of your vacation.

• The lobby is an idea gathering place for all ages; Kids are catered to with a bowl of lollipops by the elevator, and mom and dad will love the adjacent boutique, which brings the hotel gift shop to a new level with luxe White Elephant-branded wares.

• The hotel is closed from mid-December through March to avoid the famously frigid Nantucket winters.
The Rooms
• There are four types of accommodations in the inn: deluxe rooms, junior suites, suites and one penthouse suite with a balcony.

• Though they vary in size — and some of the suites feature fireplaces — all include plush beds (one king or two twins) with leather headboards and flat-screen HD TVs.

• Families should also consider one of the 25 residences at White Elephant Village; each one comes equipped with a washer and dryer, sleeper sofa, a gas fireplace and full kitchens.

• No matter which accommodation you choose, you’ll enjoy luxurious bath amenities in scents of green tea, ginger, Brazilian orange and vanilla.
Nearby Attractions
• White Elephant Village enjoys a prime and peaceful location on the island of Nantucket, which is a one- or two-hour ferry ride or 20-minute flight from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

• The hotel is just a five-minute walk from downtown Nantucket’s cobblestone streets, lively wharfs and public beaches — and the stroll is a lovely one, with historic houses and hydrangeas lining the way.

• History buffs will love the charming hotel’s proximity to popular museums. The Nantucket Whaling Museum, the Lightship Basket Museum and the Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum are all less than five miles from the Nantucket hotel.

• Excursions such as whale watching, sailing, lighthouse and vineyard tours can all be arranged through the hotel, and are all within walking distance.
