Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina

St. Lucia’s hidden hillside sanctuary
Nestled on St. Lucia’s tranquil Marigot Bay adjacent to the exclusive Capella Marina, where moored yachts rest on sparkling turquoise waters warmed by the Caribbean sun, Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina offers a secluded escape on this Lesser Antilles island gem.

The open-plan multistory retreat is centrally located and surrounded by steep, lush hills. Its laid-back island atmosphere provides subtle luxury with distinctive touches, including an afternoon sabering ritual featuring rum barrels filled with coconuts.

The St. Lucia hotel’s prime location offers access to luxury yacht charters, sailing courses, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling.

Landlubbers also have a variety of options, including golf, horseback riding, rain-forest hikes and an excursion to La Soufrière, a drive-in volcano with hot sulfur springs. Chill seekers can take a complimentary 20-minute shuttle to Anse Cochon beach, famous for its coral reefs.
Our Inspector's Highlights
• A dedicated Capella personal assistant attends to your every need, from airport logistics to breakfast on your balcony.

• The Auriga Spa is an indoor/outdoor oasis with unique locally inspired services. For the moon phase treatment, the spa maps out the moon calendar and recommends an integrative wellness path accordingly.

• Go for a swim in one of the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel’s two infinity pools, where lounging guests receive refreshing amenities such as energizing juices and rum-infused iced tea pops.

• Upgrade to a suite to get prime perks like a private outdoor hot tub, a fully equipped Italian Aster Cucina kitchen, a washer and dryer, a large living and dining room and a Bose surround sound music system.

• Head near the marina to relax. The luxury hotel sets a stylish scene with inviting lounge outdoor spaces across two floors, which means you get water views.
Things to Know
• Marina Village is next to Capella Marina. Go there to peruse high-end shops and restaurants.

• While some hotels in St. Lucia have an open-wall layout in its rooms, Capella does not. It’s a better choice for less adventurous travelers who want air conditioning and no bugs in their rooms.

• For a local souvenir, go to the Sunday farmers market at the marina to pick up spices or local crafts. Or pick up some produce to cook up in your suite’s kitchen.
The Rooms
• Request a room or suite with its own plunge pool, which is only offered in select accommodations.

• The 57 suites and 67 guest rooms feature expansive balconies facing the bay, where there’s ample space to enjoy the outdoors in privacy.

• Spacious guest rooms with West Indian-inspired décor — including plantation-style ceiling fans and canopy beds with mosquito netting — don’t distract from the surrounding nature, which steals the show.

• Suite bathrooms feature rain showers and Acqua di Parma bath products.

• In-room amenities include an espresso machine and tea facilities, a refreshment center restocked daily with complimentary nonalcoholic beverages, a flat-screen TV and DVD player and free Wi-Fi.
The Food
• At The Grill at 14 Degrees 61 Degrees, which is located at the resort’s highest point and overlooks the treetops and breathtaking bay, chef Klent Abel’s seasonal menus focus on locally sourced seafood, meats, produce and spices grown in the hotel’s private garden.

• The Grill at 14 Degrees 61 Degrees fuses traditional St. Lucian flavors with contemporary American and European influences. Don’t miss the seared scallops with hazelnut and cocoa — the island is famous for its chocolate, and cocoa is one of its most important crops.

• Bayside Café has casual all-day dining, including “Lucian cakes,” johnnycakes with fish and cucumber skewers and conch fritters.

• For a light bite, visit the swim-up Brut Bar, which puts out a selection of local ceviche, sushi plates, salads and seafood dishes, in addition to burgers and sandwiches.

• The Rum Cave serves up lunch and dinner with live music most evenings. On a special night, head there to learn how to concoct your own rum cocktail or experience a tasting of regional rums, or book an interactive cooking experience with a chef.
