Lumière Hotel

Where the great outdoors and grand style meet
Unusual among ski towns, Telluride is a blissful enclave that has some of the highest real estate prices of any in the nation, yet lacks the pretense and urban feel of many of its peers. It maintains a low-key, active vibe where the great outdoors, nature and having fun are first and foremost, while name-brand luxury is largely overlooked.

The boutique Lumière Hotel fits this groove perfectly, flying under the radar with little outwards opulence or flash, while offering luxurious residential-style accommodations in 29 rooms and apartments, a distinctive food approach focused on après-ski, and an intimate, personalized, hands-on and European style of service where every guest is known by name.

The location in Mountain Village is also hard to beat, opening onto the trails on one side, for seamless ski-in/ski-out convenience, and the village on the other, just steps from the dining, nightlife and shopping, as well as the gondola that connects upscale Mountain Village with the Old West town of Telluride below.
Our Inspector's Highlights
• The aptly named residences feel like home. The spacious accommodations have fully equipped kitchens, dining rooms and more.

• Service comes to you at this Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel. A ski valet will do fittings in your room, and you can enjoy an in-room recovery massage, too.

• After a tiring day on the slopes, the hotel’s secluded outdoor hot tub and sauna offer a private escape.

• Fresh baked post-skiing cookies and brownies (different daily but always delicious) are placed out each afternoon for a little indulgence.

• The general manager is likely to shake your hand and welcome you with champagne. And the rest of the staff — from the chef who cooks your breakfast to the ski valets — is friendly and responsive.
