Bauer L'Hotel
Venice's art deco gem
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We created the original Five-Star rating system in 1958, when we were Mobil Travel Guide.
Five-Star
These are outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.
Soon To Be Rated
As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
Just a stone’s throw from San Marco and situated at the head of the Grand Canal, the charming Bauer Venezia sits in the heart of Venice.
The enviable location means that you don’t have to wander far to explore and experience the city’s landmarks, which are easily accessible on foot. In just five minutes, you can reach the Gallerie dell'Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Doge's Palace. For water-based explorations, a fleet of gondolas awaits.
The hotel itself reflects the classic city; the unassuming exterior masks the Art Deco grandeur awaiting inside. Venetian fabrics and accents are a strong component of the décor, chandeliers and sconces are constructed from locally made Murano glass, and bathrooms feature Italian marble and Santa Maria Degli Angeli toiletries created in the city.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• The views of the canal from The Bauer Venezia are entrancing. Spring for a canal-view room or suite with a balcony — you won’t regret it.
• B Bar Lounge is the place to be and be seen in the city. Creative cocktails aside, the hip spot features live jazz on Friday nights and DJ sets on Saturdays.
• Complete with a hammam and Turkish bath, the spa offers a serene respite from the bustling city. Treatments offer a unique blend of antique wellness rituals with innovative cosmetic technologies.
• Dinner with a view is an understatement at De Pisis, where you can dine on Mediterranean cuisine with a Venetian twist while overlooking the Grand Canal and the church of Santa Maria Della Salute.
Things to Know
• Post workout, opt for a spin in the outdoor hydro massage bathtubs on the eighth floor terrace, complete with Prosecco and fresh fruit.
• A fully equipped fitness center is available onsite for hotel guests, as is a personal trainer by request.
The Rooms
• The rooms are sumptuous and lushly decorated — think high-end silks and linens — blending Venetian style with Art Deco design and mixing contemporary and antique furnishings.
• While small, the bathrooms are luxuriously appointed with Italian marble floors, Santa Maria degli Angeli bath products and heated towel racks.
• The most luxurious room is the 1,080-square-foot Royal Suite. High ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers, Venetian flooring and gold accents give it a sumptuous feel.
The Restaurants
• Eat like a Venetian at L’Ulivo restaurant. Local, organic products shine on the menu, and wines from nearby Friuli pair wonderfully with dishes for a truly Italian experience
• The alfresco Canal Bar is more private than B Bar Lounge and has an enviable location along the Grand Canal.
• For an elevated alfresco bar, opt for Settimo Cielo, whose seventh-floor terrace is the highest in the city. Go there to sip an aperol spritz and take in views of Venice and the lagoon.
• At fine-dining spot De Pisis Restaurant, Mediterranean flavors comingle with Asian spices. Add a terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and it makes for a dreamy dining destination.
