Terra
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We created the original Five-Star rating system in 1958, when we were Mobil Travel Guide.

Four-Star

Chef-owner Hiro Sone has been impressing diners since 1988 with a flavorful blend of French, Asian and northern California cuisine, served in an intimate setting. Just one block off the main drag in the enchanting town of St. Helena, Calif., Terra occupies a charming fieldstone building that looks as if it belongs in an old European village. Inside you will find the decor rustically finished with vintage red-tiled floors, exposed stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings and country floral arrangements.
To go along with its Tuscan fieldstone façade, Terra’s menu features unique dishes infused with French and Italian flavors, and this Four-Star restaurant is one of the best in the region. And with its reliance on local ingredients, the menu at Terra changes with the leaves. Seasonal signature dishes include red wine-braised veal cheeks, lobster tortellini and stone fruit tarte tatin. With a stellar wine list to go along with the flavorful food, a meal at Terra is a Napa Valley culinary extravaganza.

- Though you won’t need to sport that uncomfortable coat and tie, you’ll still want to dress to impress. We suggest long pants and a nice shirt for the gentlemen; while ladies can show off that adorable dress you’ve been dying to wear.
