Somma WineSpa

Mexico’s wine-focused spa
VERIFIED LUXURY
Los Cabos’ transformation from laid-back fishing mecca to sophisticated beachfront travel destination began in the mid-1990s, when newer resorts competed in a race of sorts, each attempting to outdo the other with luxury amenities, like spectacular championship-level golf courses and high-end spas.

The immutable laws of real estate eventually slowed the golf course boom, but the number of regional spas has continued to spiral. The spa focus has slowly shifted to unique therapies based on, for example, the phases of the moon or ancient Aztec healing practices. Few if any of these wellness centers, however, have achieved quite the level of pampering decadence as Somma WineSpa at Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos Golf & Spa.

Grand Fiesta Americana’s wine spa is the first of its kind in Mexico, a sprawling vinotherapy-focused wellness facility featuring a wide array of relaxing treatment rooms and custom-tailored therapeutic options.

• This Los Cabos resort excels at salon and beauty services like hair styling, manicures and pedicures.

The Treatments
• After descending an enormous staircase into the cool and cavernous spa area, you select vino-based massages like the sauvignon blanc Swedish or chardonnay deep tissue.

• The spa focus has slowly shifted to unique therapies based on, for example, the phases of the moon or ancient Aztec healing practices.

• Vinotherapy is not an excuse to sip samplers from Baja California’s emergent wine country, Valle de Guadalupe. (No excuses are needed!) Rather, it’s a treatment option in which antioxidant-rich polyphenol extracts from grapes are used in wellness therapies and skin-care products designed to promote health and longevity.
