The Spa at Bardessono

An intimate spa retreat in Napa
The Spa at Bardessono is every inch as chic and eco-friendly as the rest of Bardessono Hotel and Spa. To get to the spa, you walk through the sophisticated lobby and past a charming alfresco courtyard with water features. The intimate space is housed in a contemporary-looking building with tall windows, black steel beams and stained wood accents.

The friendly staff warmly greets you before coordinating spa treatments. Then you’re whisked into an elegant changing room lined with chestnut lockers and serene blue walls.

An assortment of tea and flavored waters are available, and warm, white cotton robes and spa shoes wait in each locker. The therapists welcome you discretely into one of the four rooms, where soothing music plays softly.

Like Bardessono, the treatment rooms are a mixture of natural elements and muted tones. Nothing is too flashy and there is an overall sense of luxurious calm.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Treatments are seasonal here — they vary depending on the time of year you visit the Napa spa. In spring, for example, the focus is on purification, renewal and vitality
  • While most spas have some sort of shop attached to it, Bardessono’s boutique is filled with much more than skincare products (although those are pretty great). It’s a carefully curated mixture of thoughtful gifts, stylish clothing and local treasures.
  • While the Yountville spa is open to the public, hotel guests are welcome to receive treatments in the comfort of their guest suite. All of the 62 rooms at Bardessono have oversized bathrooms with hidden massage tables that double as spa treatment rooms.
  • The pool is surrounded by luxurious lounge chairs, several cabanas and stunning 360-degree views of the lush vineyards, valley and mountains that cover this beautiful region of California.
Things to Know
  • Don’t skip perusing the excellent lifestyle boutique that serves as the spa’s check-in and welcome center.
  • Couples packages, such as the Relationship Appreciation service (you and your partner will learn the art of massage) are designed to be performed in hotel rooms only.
  • If you’re thinking of enjoying a massage or facial at The Spa at Bardessono, it’s a good idea to book spa time in advance when making your hotel room reservation. The spa inside the LEED Platinum certified hotel is popular with both guests and locals.
The Treatments
  • Choose from an assortment of massages ranging from 60 to 120 minutes. The signature massage combines Swedish techniques with deep-tissue penetration.
  • The soothing warm stone massage features smooth river-worn stones to provide radiant heat to tired muscles.
  • For skin services, expect the best—Carita, EemerginC, Dr. Alkaitis and Ultra Technology products are used. Facials involve a blend of cleansing, exfoliating, extractions and pressure-point massage all geared toward the your personal skincare needs.
  • Treatment enhancements include a detoxifying mud wrap with a mixture of rhassoul clay and seaweed gel or a body polish with organic chardonnay grape seed sugar scrub.
The Facilities
  • The luxury spa has a wonderful rooftop pool with a hot tub and poolside dining options.
  • The Spa at Bardessono’s boutique is an excellent spot to pick up a souvenir. Mia Marcelle Swimwear, a local swimsuit line, hangs in one corner, while the cookbooks from all of Thomas Keller’s nearby restaurants (The French Laundry is a five-minute walk from the resort) sit on a wall shelf.
  • Two comfortable lounge chairs anchor the stylish locker rooms, which also house a steam room and sauna, bathroom and large shower.
