The Fullerton Spa

Singapore’s tucked-away haven
Walking down the plainly embellished corridor that leads to The Fullerton Spa is akin to getting a reset. Unlike the Palladian-style neoclassical façade of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, the spa exudes a more understated, classic vibe.

Tucked away on the mezzanine floor of The Fullerton Hotel — a former General Post Office and Singapore’s 71st National Monument — is this space away from the weather and elements in the hive that is the city-state’s central business district: the windowless 3,487-square-foot zone affords total privacy and tranquility.

Here, luxury is elemental, permeating. It is best felt in the textured, bronze, copper and cream tones of the furniture and décor, and breathed in through Aromatherapy Associates’ scents that are used to denote the beginning of a relaxing experience. You will appreciate the clean lines, finite spa services menu and effective treatment strokes delivered by confident, cognizant therapists.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Warm cups of soothing unsweetened ginger-lemongrass tea begin and end each session.
  • The experience starts in one of three consultation nooks with a “sensory journey” to determine the right oil blend for the individual and treatment, and finishes at the men’s or women’s lounge.
  • The lounges, enclosed with textured glass panels, are stocked with local and international reading materials, mineral and lemon-infused water and snack bowls of dried cranberries and mixed unsalted nuts.
  • “Relax for as long as you’d like. Please do not rush,” the polite staff assure you as they usher you to the lounges.
  • Like the spa’s soft toy bear mascot, you will be dressed in a cream-colored waffle-textured robe. Thick, almost-fluffy slippers, shower caps and combs are also provided at the beginning of the session or in the rooms.
Things to Know
  • The sauna and steam room should be used an hour prior to the treatment, as it will loosen up the muscles for a more effective treatment session.
  • The London-based brand Aromatherapy Associates is the primary skincare line used at this upscale spa. Fitting for a spa located in a building formerly occupied as a prime postal unit in British Malaya.
  • Treatment sessions can last 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, with the signature treatments offered in 60- and 90-minute blocks.
The Treatments
  • The succinct spa menu has massages, scrubs, facials and express services.
  • The detoxifying and energizing Asian Heritage Signature holistically blends the techniques of the East with the sensory approaches of the West.
  • For an even more targeted session, the 90-minute Rose Infinity Facial uses Nobel Prize-winning research to repair aging DNA at a cellular level and increase moisture in the skin.
  • Alternatively, combine the two treatments into a 120-minute Ultimate Indulgence — it lives up to its name.
The Rooms
  • Having rebranded and reopened in August 2015, the spa has seven suites — two couple, five single — that are almost minimalist at this point.
  • Beautiful artwork gives the low-ceilinged, dark-wood-floored suites a little more character.
  • Lie on treatment beds lined with warm electric blankets and choose a soft or hard pillow when you turn to sprawl out face-up.
