Auriga Spa at Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina

St. Lucia's tropical oasis
VERIFIED LUXURY
Tucked away along the shoreline of St. Lucia's picturesque Marigot Bay, Auriga Spa at Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina’s brown cabanas hide underneath towering almond trees and exotic foliage. The lush, tranquil setting hints at what lies in store for you — transformative, tropical treatments.

Whether you choose to get a service in one of the three treatment rooms — all of which are made for couples, as each comes with two massage tables and a private rainforest shower — or in the rustic open-air treehouse (also a popular spot for private dinners), you’ll encounter one-of-a-kind services using St. Lucian products you won’t find anywhere else.

Our Inspector's Highlights
• Every treatment at the St. Lucia spa starts with a warm neck and eye compress scented with lavender and nutmeg. It’s a comforting touch, though you can also request chilled towels, if you need a cool-down from the Caribbean heat.

• One of the signatures of Auriga — which is named for a constellation — is its moon phase treatments. The spa maps out the moon calendar and recommends an integrative wellness path accordingly.

• Your therapist will offer you a choice of beverages — chilled water; chlorophyll, a super drink that has anti-inflammatory properties (don’t be put off by its dark green hue; it has a subtle taste); and bay leaf tea. Be sure to order the latter.

• The fitness center’s terrace serves as the venue for the daily yoga and Pilates classes (it’s covered, in case of a rainy day) and it overlooks the spa cabanas tucked into the ylang ylang trees and other tropical greenery.

• If you have a special dinner at The Grill and want to do some primping, head to the salon. The modern, white-walled, wood-floored space offers a pair of pedicure chairs and manicure stations where you can get CND Shellac (for polish that won’t chip for two weeks) or Vinylux (for lacquer lasts a week) nail services.
Things to Know
• Expect to leave the spa with a gift, like dried fruit in a cellophane pouch.

• The salon also provides spots to get your hair done with Amika products post-treatment and pre-dinner.

• Bay leaves are plucked from just outside the cabana and used for the warming tea offered by your therapist, which has a soothing cinnamon aroma (it also reportedly helps with stomach aches).
The Treatments
• If the day of your treatment falls on during the full moon, balance is what you need. The spa recommends “feasting on what Earth has given” (like fresh fruit), exercising outdoors with loved ones and a meditation plan that focuses on opposites and celebrates abundance.

• Then of course there’s the Full Moon treatment, which starts with rubbing your feet with rose oil, exfoliating your body with rose petals and rose-oil-infused salt, a deep-cleansing and nourishing rose wrap and, finally, a massage and lymphatic facial using rose crystals and acupressure points.

• The luxury spa also specializes in indigenous St. Lucia services, like the fiksyon fwote’, a blissful 90-minute massage using local limes and herbs. Made of ingredients such as cinnamon, nutmeg, red lavender and coconut oil, the all-natural potion improves circulation and relieves pain and tension.
The Facilities
• When your treatment concludes, you therapist will escort you to the relaxation room, which is adjacent to the check-in desk. Peruse the platter of fresh fruit, including bananas and apples, and sit down on the cushioned rattan sofas.

• Arrive at least a half-hour early to make the rounds in the Finnish cedar sauna cabana, the eucalyptus steam cabana and the gushing outdoor waterfall and Jacuzzi, and then rinse off afterward in the alfresco shower.

• Head to the small cream-stone-filled locker room, which offers a pebble vanity stocked with toothbrushes, mouth wash, nail kits, shower caps and Acqua di Parma body lotion.

• The large airy gym sits above the locker rooms. You’ll find all of the latest Cybex equipment in there, whether you need to ramp up on an elliptical or free weights.
