Charlottesville

One of the best small cities in the South, Charlottesville is famous for a couple of things: the home of Thomas Jefferson and the University of Virginia. Of course, the third president of the United States founded and designed the prestigious university. The downtown pedestrian mall streetscape at the center of the historic district is alive with shops, restaurants, theaters and a skating rink. From discovering Jefferson’s Monticello estate to cheering on the Cavaliers at a lacrosse game, Charlottesville offers charming and unique experiences. Though much of the town life revolves around the University of Virginia, there’s a small town feeling that makes Charlottesville a quaint destination.
