Cambodia, specifically Siem Reap,
is one of the most magical places you’ll ever visit. From the majestic temple
ruins to the warm and friendly people, this is a town that has been through a
lot and keeps on moving forward. While Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples
are the main reason for coming to Siem Reap, there is so much more to keep your
eyes open to, from the daily life of the teenagers bicycling to school, trying
to make it to college, to the blind and amputated landmine victims who now make
music. The deep wounds of this country’s genocide from the late 1970s are still
healing, but a national pride for what makes Cambodia great is the overarching
cause for daily celebration in Siem Reap, a destination that has only recently
begun to reap the rewards of international tourism.
