Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort

A retreat in Bali's bustling beach town
VERIFIED LUXURY
Located in the heart of Bali’s most bustling beach town, Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort is a quiet retreat.

Anantara is a luxury hotel brand with many properties throughout Asia, and its Bali outpost is a stunner. The resort has 59 suites, a penthouse with private pool, a rooftop restaurant and luxe spa.

Once you enter the serene building, the sounds of the busy street are distant memory. Water elements play a major part of the hotel’s six-floor design, which brings the outdoors inside and the soothing melody of flowing water triggers relaxation. Everything is open air — for example, the chic lobby opens to an outdoor deck with striking views of the Indian Ocean as a backdrop.

Here, ancient aspects of Balinese culture are mixed with modern indulgences. Craved wood, smooth marble, and leafy plants are featured prominently throughout the communal and private spaces.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Each guest room is an oversized suite with a walk-in closet that doubles as a dressing room, a generously sized bathroom with separate soaking tub, rainforest shower, a double vanity, desk space, lounge area and balcony or an outdoor space.
  • The Bali hotel has a dining by design program and can plan a private beachside meal, complete with romantic candlelight and rose petals.
  • Leisure activities abound: do yoga on the beach, take an Indonesian cooking class, or learn how to make a classic Thai herbal compress that is often used in massage therapies.
  • The open-air rooftop spa has only four treatment rooms, but its luxe services should be taken advantage of during your stay.
Things to Know
  • MoonLite Kitchen and Bar serves up an extensive array of breakfast options each morning. You can order international favorites like eggs Benedict and breakfast burritos or experience an authentic Indonesian buffet.
  • Life moves slower in Bali, and this place is made for you to linger and lounge. Cocktails and fish tacos by the pool and a spa treatment are both a must.
  • Make use of the concierge. Many of Bali’s best restaurants require reservations, so have the concierge book dinners. The staff can also arrange taxi rides to nearby attractions, day trips to see legendary landscapes and guide you toward Bali’s best holistic experiences.
  • Although the luxury hotel is located next to the beach, it doesn’t operate a lounge chair service directly on the sand.
The Rooms
  • There are four tiers of suites at Anantara. The most basic, the Anantara Suite, does not have ocean views, but a balcony with courtyard pool vistas. If watching the sunset nightly from your private outdoor soaking tub is a priority, book an Anantara Ocean Suite.
  • All of the 59 rooms have king-sized beds, with a lounge area couch that transforms into a bed suitable for children.
  • The rooms are decorated in a neutral color palette with white and cream linens, brown wood floors, marble tubs and traditional wood Balinese lattice work.
The Restaurants
  • There are two dining options at the resort, but dinner at the rooftop eatery, Moonlite Kitchen and Bar should not be missed.
  • With live music, an alfresco deck and potent cocktails, it’s become a trendy hot spot for sunset viewing.
  • The kitchen serves up delectable Asian cuisine like a barbecue platter with grilled duck and pork belly that is accompanied by a tangy soy sauce and crisp lettuce; a spicy seafood and coconut rice noodle soup; and a slow-cooked butter chicken with potato masala.
