Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum

A Turkish haven in Paradise Bay
VERIFIED LUXURY

There's no reason to leave Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum. Stretched across nearly 150 acres, the seaside Turkish haven offers 11 food and drink concepts, four pools, two private beaches, a full spa and a fitness center. Even better, the property is embedded on a hill surrounded by olive and pine trees along Paradise Bay and features stunning views of the Aegean Sea almost everywhere you look.

Drop off the children at the Gymboree Kids Club while you take a run down the path along the bay, try kiteboarding in Akyaka or have a private dinner surrounded by the ruins of the Bodrum Castle.

Aside from the 84 rooms and suites, the hotel also offers 12 villas and 34 small apartments; some come complete with private pools, perfect for families and groups traveling together. Plus, most of the contemporary accommodations have vistas of either the garden or sea as well as a terrace to meditate on the stunning surroundings.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Warm wood panels flow from the walls and onto the floor, giving many of the rooms a modern but cozy den feel. But with bright white linens, pale beige furniture and a sunny window overlooking the water, the rooms fill with soothing natural light.
  • For larger parties, book the Alysia Villa, which has eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms. This private building comes complete with a terrace and pool and a magnificent sea vista.
  • Find absolute relaxation in the two-story spa. The space overlooks the Aegean Sea and includes several water features to complement the location. There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a sauna and a steam room.
  • Bathtub fanatics will want to book the Aegean Suite. There's a large, free-standing soaking tub next to the balcony so you can soak while taking in the panorama of Paradise Bay.
  • Whether you want Turkish fare (Sofra), Cantonese (global sensation Hakkasan) or anything in between, dining is a highlight at the Bodrum hotel. Be sure to check out the stylish bars, too.

The Restaurants

  • Join celebrated chef and Italian butcher Dario Cecchini at Atelier Di Carne, the property's elegant steakhouse. Enjoy beef, ethically caught seafood and an array of vegetables alfresco under the clear Bodrum sky April through October.
  • Have a cocktail with a view at Lucca by the Sea. It's a relaxing spot to enjoy Mediterranean small plates.
  • Dine on carefully prepared sushi by the sea at Kurochan by IOKI. Situated on a wooden terrace overlooking the resort's main beach, you can savor unique sushi creations with a dash of Peruvian flavors. The menu also includes noodles, tempura and traditional Japanese grilled foods. Plus, there’s a list of imported beer, cocktails, sake and wine.
  • Sofra is the place to be for breakfast. The Turkish spread features freshly baked bread, pastries, egg dishes, housemade yogurt, cheeses and fresh fruit, to name a few items. With indoor and outdoor seating and tables that can be put together for larger groups, the venue has something for every guest.
  • Sample modern, high-end Cantonese cuisine at Hakkasan. This restaurant, like most of the other places to eat and drink at the resort, doesn’t just turn out delicious food, but a wonderful view of the Aegean Sea as well.
