The St. Regis Chengdu

Chengdu's haven of timeless sophistication
VERIFIED LUXURY

Occupying prime position in the city’s central business district, The St. Regis Chengdu is a go-to destination for discerning visitors and locals. Step through the steel-and-glass façade into the marble-clad lobby and enter an oasis of unfettered luxury and sophistication.

Timeless style meets elegant opulence at every turn. This is a world of high-end materials and dramatic glass chandeliers. And this ambiance extends to the rooms. These spacious retreats are regally dressed in soothing tones and plush furnishings that offer sly nods to art deco aesthetics. Attention to detail is everywhere, from the TVs cleverly concealed in desks to the quality bath amenities and linens.

Foodies will delight in six culinary offerings, each providing carefully curated menus and craft mixology. But even in Chengdu, few restaurants and bars also elevate the experience with bespoke details, world-class art and sweeping skyline panoramas.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Service is the standout feature, and staff goes above and beyond to ensure you’re consistently happy. The concierge can manage just about any request, while the signature St. Regis Butler Service does everything from pressing your clothes to packing your luggage.
  • The property’s Iridium Spa is a treat for all the senses, featuring lashings of silver, pink and purple; dry-to-wet massage tables; and high-tech sensory chaise lounges. Treatments combine the best of Chinese and Western healing traditions, none more so than the signature Sichuan Tea Bathing Ritual.
  • There’s nothing like a customized fine-dining experience, and Yun Fu certainly delivers. Create bespoke Sichuan-inspired menus, design the room layout, then enjoy with sophisticated European aesthetics and skyline views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • At Decanter, hop onto a barstool at the oversized table that takes center stage and sip the spicy Chuan Mary surrounded by a brilliant modern mural by Brazilian artist Chris Buissa.
  • There are two pools, but the heated indoor one is usually less busy. It boasts skyline panoramas, colored lighting, private dining and is very Instagrammable.

Things to Know

  • All accommodations offer views of the city or Tianfu Square, but for the absolute best vistas, book a corner room on a high floor.
  • Nestled in Chengdu’s business district, the luxury hotel understandably gets busy when events like the China Food and Drinks Fair or Chengdu Motor Show are in town. Expect higher occupancy, longer waits and strict check-in/checkout times.
  • If you need to remain connected while you’re out and about in Chengdu, buy a local SIM card for your phone from the concierge or butler in the lobby.
  • Perched at the top of the Chengdu hotel, Vantage XXVII affords spectacular city panoramas, lively happy hours and craft cocktails. But the seasonal spot is only open May to October.
  • Chengdu’s main shopping areas — like Chunxi Road — are within walking distance from the St. Regis. If you’re exploring further afield, take the metro (the nearest stop is just a 10-minute walk away) or the hotel can arrange a taxi.

The Rooms

  • Rooms are as technologically advanced as they are luxurious. Think automated curtains, mechanized toilets by Toto and Bose surround sound.
  • Bathrooms are equally plush, boasting heated floors, deep soaking tubs and Remède amenities.
  • Turndown service is a treat. Take the certificate to the shop in the lobby to retrieve your gift.
  • Starting at 700 square feet, guest rooms and suites are among the biggest in Chengdu, and floor-to-ceiling windows ensure the space never feels stuffy.
  • Comfort is key, so rooms are outfitted with thick carpets, lush robes and cloud-like Simmons mattresses.

For the Kids

  • The Chengdu hotel has every provision necessary for its littlest guests, from pint-sized toiletries and robes to toys, cribs and strollers.
  • Head for Social to keep kids entertained during meals. The bright buffet-style restaurant provides plenty of stimulation for inquisitive little minds and the special children’s menu by chef Nelson Ong features fun, easy dishes for young palates.
  • The concierge can organize unique experiences like Colorful Day at Wide & Narrow Alleys, where the whole family can explore Ming and Qing dynasty architecture, learn the art of Sichuan opera face-painting and take in a show at a traditional teahouse.
  • Should mom and dad need a respite, The St. Regis Chengdu has a team of trained nannies and babysitters on hand to keep kids safe and entertained.
