Nimb Copenhagen

Copenhagen’s grand Moorish castle
VERIFIED LUXURY

Where do you begin with Nimb Copenhagen? If you start by gazing at the building, you’re awed by its Moorish-inspired grandeur. Like any 1909-built castle worth its weight in stone, this property is awash in bold arches, marble façades and majestic domes. Unique and gorgeous, it could easily serve as a backdrop for a Carl Theodor Dreyer film. And once you realize the stunning structure you’ve been pointing your camera at sits at the western edge of the awe-inspiring Tivoli Gardens amusement park, it all starts to feel even more surreal.

Take those longing looks inside one of Copenhagen’s finest hotels, and you’re still left amazed. Because there are only 38 rooms, private spaces receive the necessary attention to make singularly luxurious statements without feeling stale. The host of restaurants, a heavenly rooftop pool and a hammam-equipped spa all benefit from the same touch. With Nimb, you may not know where your fairytale begins, but you’re sure you never want it to end.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Each unit at this breathtaking boutique hotel does its own take on Scandinavian splendor. One room will have one-of-a-kind corner angles. Another will feature a terrace overlooking the garden. No matter your selection, expect a two-person tub, a four-poster bed and high-end Bang & Olufsen electronics.
  • For a hotel named after a pair of restaurant owners, Vilhelm and Louise Nimb, it only makes sense that its culinary program would be exquisite. Through Gemyse’s organic approach, Fru Nimb’s open-faced sandwich inventiveness, Nimb Brasserie’s rustic ease and Cakenhagen’s sweet tooth, the dining scene more than satisfies.
  • Nimb Roof is the place for rosé sipping and sushi nibbling. Visit on the right night and you could have some live jazz or DJ spinning paired with the unforgettable vistas. Here, you also will find Denmark’s first hotel rooftop pool.
  • The striking architecture embraces old and new. The ornate white Moorish-inspired palace was designed by Knud Arne-Petersen, who also served as architect and director of Tivoli Gardens. In 2017, the Nimb debuted the Tivoli Corner, a nearly 22,000-square-foot, glass-fronted modern addition from Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, an NYC firm that also did Paris' Louvre Pyramid.
  • A Tivoli Gardens location certainly sets the Nimb apart. And the luxury hotel makes the most of its colorful surroundings: every room but one overlooks Tivoli.

Things to Know

  • Nimb Wellness offers a world of answers for physical and mental rejuvenation. Whether we’re talking about a steaming session in the Turkish bath or an ache-melting Balinese massage, you’ll do plenty of relaxing here.
  • As you move about the property, you’ll notice spectacular floral arrangements nearly everywhere. Getting the vibrant orchids and roses just right takes a full-time effort from Mother Nature and the two-person team from Flowers By Nimb.
  • Though there’s an unquestioned air of romance hovering at Nimb, that does not mean younger guests aren’t welcomed. On the contrary, a children’s breakfast menu, kid-friendly minibar items and miniature robes show that the Copenhagen hotel has the whole family in mind.
  • As a guest of the hotel, you receive complimentary admission to Tivoli.
