The St. Regis Hong Kong

Elevated service on Victoria Harbor
VERIFIED LUXURY

Just two blocks from Wan Chai’s evolving harborfront, The St. Regis Hong Kong feels like a sanctuary in the heart of one of the city’s busiest districts. With the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre right around the corner, the luxurious address combines the brand’s signature sophistication and bespoke service with dramatic design to captivating effect.

The main lobby is where the drama unfolds: The Great Room, as it’s aptly named, unveils 32-foot-high ceilings, enormous windows and a residential-style design by renowned Hong Kong interior designer André Fu. Beyond the impressive public spaces, the hotel wows with spacious rooms and deliberate East-meets-West accents, a comprehensive gym, an outdoor pool and several dining outlets.

While it exudes a distinct personality that echoes the locale, particularly in the design and dining menus, the property gracefully weaves St. Regis signatures into the experience from a memorable afternoon tea to butler service, a trio of special Canto Marys (Hong Kong-inspired bloody marys) and a delicate, floral scent named Caroline’s Four Hundred in honor of the founding family’s matriarch.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • With just 129 rooms and suites, The St. Regis Hong Kong pours on the personalized touches. Among the many perks, look forward to the hotel’s trademark butler service, which is accessible via in-room phone or through the Marriott Mobile App.
  • Fu’s interior design shines with details in every corner. Look for repeating motifs like lanterns that recall Hong Kong’s old gas lamps and shophouse shutters in the rooms and spa.
  • The luxury hotel dedicates an entire floor to health and wellness, with a serene spa and expansive fitness center. On the same level, an outdoor pool provides an excellent diversion, especially during steamy Hong Kong summers — though it’s lovely in winter, too, thanks to temperature-controlled water and a poolside bar that operates all year round.
  • At 5:30 every evening, the classic St. Regis ritual of champagne sabrage— the art of popping open a bottle of bubbly with the swish of a sword, as Napoleon Bonaparte used to do in both victory and defeat — takes place in The Drawing Room. Following the daily event, guests are treated to a glass of champagne, so don't miss it.
  • The property’s bar and dining options alone are worth a visit. Try dim sum at Rùn, French haute cuisine at L’Envol or simply savor a cocktail at The St. Regis Bar.

Things to Know

  • This is in an ideal location for business travelers and culture hounds alike, with the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center within walking distance, plus dozens of local restaurants, boutiques and temples in every direction.
  • For those keen to ride the world-famous Star Ferry, walk about 10 minutes north to Wan Chai Ferry Pier, then sail to Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon.
  • Sustainability is high on the agenda. The building is BEAM (Building Environmental Assessment Method) Plus Bronze-certified, and throughout the property, you’ll find chic metal straws in cocktails, discreet recycling bins in guest rooms and bamboo toothbrushes on amenity trays.
  • From bespoke glassware at The St. Regis Bar to exclusive St. Regis-branded gins in your minibar, there are countless custom details to discover.
  • Enthralled by the gorgeous mural on the wall above The St. Regis Bar? Ask the bartender to tell you the story behind it.

The Rooms

  • Sporting views of either buzzing Wan Chai, stunning Victoria Peak mountain or slices of the harbor, the rooms at the Hong Kong hotel feel like personal apartments thanks to plush sofas and oak tables for dining, working or entertaining.
  • Starting from 538 square feet, every room features cozy comforts like a big tub, a rain shower, fluffy bathrobes and dreamy beds covered in crisp Frette linens.
  • The namesake St. Regis Suite (1,011 square feet) takes luxury up a notch with harbor views and more living space for lounging, not to mention a curated selection of beautiful jade artwork and books that explore Hong Kong's heritage.
  • The largest and most exclusive room in the building is the Presidential Suite, which is utterly palatial at 2,582 square feet with a dedicated 12-seat dining room, a study, walk-in closets, a living room and an enormous circular bathtub.

The Restaurants

  • Every morning, semi-buffet-style breakfast is served at Rùn with a short menu of made-to-order dishes and daily juices. The restaurant soon transforms into a dim sum mecca, where renowned chef Hung Chi-Kwong creates everything from delicious har gow (shrimp dumplings) and siu mai (shrimp and pork dumplings in tofu skin) to wagyu puffs and barbecued char siu.
  • Come early afternoon, don’t miss the tea service in The Drawing Room, where bite-sized delights are served on trolleys inspired by Hong Kong’s dim sum diners. For high tea, you can either choose eight items in any combination (ideal for those with a sweet tooth) or splurge on the all-you-can-eat package.
  • The jewel in the crown of The St. Regis Hong Kong is French fine-dining room L’Envol, which is helmed by acclaimed chef Olivier Elzer. In addition to the seasonal menu, there’s a dedicated cheese room and more than 800 wines on offer, including some 100 champagnes— a remarkable collection for oenophiles.
  • As with all St. Regis Bars, the Hong Kong outpost creates expertly mixed libations, but here, a specially crafted “Tale of Two Cities” menu offers tipples inspired by both Hong Kong and New York. Try the Canto Mary — a trio of bloody mary cocktails inspired by Hong Kong, as per St. Regis tradition.
  • Don’t miss the live jazz every evening in The Drawing Room, which is adjacent to the bar and Astor Terrace.
